Alicante, December 14, 2021
Marian Alesón, director of the Permanent University of the University of Alicante (UPUA), received the Quality Award in 2021 Erasmus+ Projects for Adult Education in the ceremony celebrated on the 13 of December in the Royal Theatre of Madrid from the Spanish Service for the Internalization of the Education (SEPIE).
The Project “HeiM – Heritage in Motion” has been an initiative led by the UPUA and developed with partners from Island (U3A Reykjavik), Poland (Towarzystwo Demokratyczne Wschód), and Croatia (Pučko otvoreno učilište Zagreb) between the years 2018 and 2021.
For two and a half years, the partnership has promoted cultural heritage and its values as a fundamental part of the European society development. The project achieved its goals thanks to implementing innovative methods in teaching older adults which value their experience and skills, thus promoting their social integration, intercultural understanding, and sense of belonging to their community.
Likewise, the participants carried out an intensive research project that resulted in the elaboration and publishing of 21 open-access routes, which guide the final user to discover the historical heritage, gastronomy, and natural resources of Spain, Island, Poland, and Croatia.
